The Rantoul Farmer’s Market has worked hard to be of service to the Rantoul Area. For over 10 years (since bringing it back) there’s been ups and downs, trials and errors, and many questions about why we run the market the way we do. One of our goals from the very start was to ensure people in the community could use their benefits. There was a learning curve and it took time to understand the system… and a whole lot of paperwork and data collection! A few years ago, we looked for grant opportunities and partnered with LinkUp Illinois and Experimental Station.
In 2021, we began providing a matching incentive that allows EBT card holders to purchase fresh produce, with NO LIMIT (within their available balance) to the times they can swipe their card and receive produce vouchers valued up to $25.00 per swipe. In 2023, we updated our market goers and sponsors. We believe in transparency and are proud of the contributions and successes of RFM. During that time, the market averaged over 600 pounds of fresh produce donated to residents of Northern Champaign County and link matched over $15,000.00 in produce purchases. That’s a whole lot of greens!!
We also provide educational opportunities so EBT account holders get the most out of their monthly benefits by taking advantage of our centralized matching voucher and token redemption program. We support local agriculture by reimbursing local growers directly for all the products they sell at each event.
Our little market has had a lot of impact and growth! We offered delivery in 2024 and needed time to regroup in 2025. The need in the area was BIG and we needed to get back to the drawing board to find ways to be more efficient, set boundaries, and ensure understanding of our offerings. We feel ready for 2026, with delivery beginning on May 15th. Customers will be able to find a link to our google form on this site and on our Facebook page. We invite you to shop in person this season on FRIDAYS from July 10th through August 14th! You can find us on the corner of Garrard and Congress, Downtown Rantoul, from 4-7 PM. Our vendors are amazing and their offerings include fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and homemade items, soaps, seasonings, crystals, candles, plants, flowers, succulents, food trucks, and much more! We’re always looking for more vendors and take pride in offering a place for small businesses and organizations to come together to share their resources and talents!
